Republique is a 5 episode stealth game where players play as themselves guiding a girl named Hope as she attempts to escape from a totalitarian society. Players view this thriller through fixed positions in the world, switching between cameras to scout ahead or gain different perspectives on encounter puzzles.
For Republique I worked with the animation, art, and audio teams to implement cinematics. This involved getting the animation clips trimmed and in the game, props modified to serve the cinematic, and restricting the allowed gameplay interactions to only those that were desired during each section of the cinematic. I was responsible for implementing just over 25 cinematics and vignettes (cinematic events where the player still had control).
I implemented the dining room puzzle in episode 1, the statue puzzle in episode 2, and the 3D printer puzzles in episodes 2, 3, and 5 for Republique.
In addition to systems work I was responsible for the design of several areas in the game. For episodes 3, 4, and 5 I did the initial blockout for the episodes and then sections were split up and assigned to the members of the design team. For episode 3 I designed and implemented the Pacific server area from blockout to completion. For episode 4 I designed and implemented the maze area from blockout to initial setup. For episode 5 I designed and implemented the Guard Center, Guard Barracks, and Shiptop areas from blockout to completion.
